Stephen Spender wrote virtually 1000000 phrases of magazine entries among his September Journal in 1939 and his dying in 1995. In settling on from those voluminous journals for the recent variation, the editors have attempted to supply a photo of a number of the lives Spender introduced jointly in autobiographical form.
