Monika Maron und „Pawels Briefe“ sind Gegenstand zahlreicher Publikationen. Das liegt einerseits an der Problematik einer Erinnerungsrekonstruktion ohne Erinnerung mit Hilfe von Erzählungen und Dokumenten in shape von Bild und Schrift. Heins Novelle hat mich tief beeindruckt, weshalb es nicht leicht fiel, ein geeignetes Thema zu finden, das sowohl meiner Begeisterung nicht im Wege stehen, sich aber auch nicht in einer Schwärmerei verlieren durfte. Der Gedanke additionally, die eigentümliche Eindringlichkeit des Textes selbst zu thematisieren oder zumindest als Zugang zu gebrauchen, lag nahe. Meiner Ansicht nach setzt sich diese aus einem Geflecht von Stil und Modalität der Erzählung und der (konstruierten) Persönlichkeit der Protagonistin zusammen. An Ersterem möchte ich weitestgehend nicht herumoperieren und -analysieren, da der Stil eines Textes und der Zauber des Lesens erfahren und erlebt werden will und nur unzureichend eingefangen werden kann. Das Zweite jedoch, die Protagonistin, wird hier genauer betrachtet. Die Wirkungskraft der Novelle durch sie soll in ihrer ganzen Ambivalenz zwischen Identifikation und Abscheu des Lesers untersucht werden. Mit einigen Leitfragen und gedanklichen Konstruktionen bei der Hand wird dem Grundtenor der unbehaglichen Faszination gefolgt, die diese Figur, dieses Buch auszulösen im Stande ist.
