On Tuesday, November 18, 2008 Santa Claus Anonymous, one of Baltimore’s oldest non-profit charitable organizations, will host its 17th Annual Fine Wine Tasting event from 6:00 pm. to 9:00 p.m. in the Silo Point at 1700 Beason Street Baltimore, MD 21230, in Locust Point.
During the event, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the 360 degree views of the city skyline from this modern architecture and to sample international and regional vintners’ offerings as well as a selection of Maryland wines. To complement the wines, hors d’oeuvres and dessert buffets will be featured. In addition, the evening will provide early Christmas shopping at the traditional “Give a Child a Christmas” Silent Auction, featuring a wide range of gift items. Guests will also be able to order wine for personal use and gift giving. Tickets are $55.00 in advance, with a limited number available at the door for $65.00. Tickets may be purchased on-line at www.santaclausanonymous.org or by calling (410) 685-4830.
The wine tasting is a key date in the annual Santa Claus Anonymous “Give a Child a Christmas” campaign. Over the course of its 70+ year history, the campaign has raised enough money to bring the spirit of holiday giving to close to 2,000,000 children in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Frederick, Harford and Howard counties.
Founded in 1934 by future Baltimore mayor, Theodore R. McKeldin, the Santa Claus Anonymous mission is to preserve the dignity of families and the joy of giving among the most financially at-risk families in the greater Baltimore metropolitan area.
