New Wedding Trend Gives New Meaning to Man’s Best Friend By: Loretta Legend |
| |
In weddings all across the country there’s a new wedding party member that is taking all the key wedding roles and really getting attention and changing the way wedding planners and couples think about the walk down the aisle.
Yes that’s right, wedding roles such as ring bearer, groomsman, bridesmaid, and even giving away the bride is now being done, by none other than the family dog.
Celebrity Jennifer Hudson has been getting some attention in recent weeks over this very topic. Apparently she plans to include her three dogs, Oscar, Dream Girl and Grammy in her upcoming wedding to David Otunga. She is quoted as saying that she is very serious about this decision to include her dogs in the wedding, and with her budget, you can bet that the dogs will be there and that they will look fabulous.
But celebrities aren’t the only ones thinking about including their furry friends for the big day. It seems the American love affair with dogs is at an all time high and more than ever, people are considering them as part of the family, and including them as part of the family on important events like weddings.
Then there is the idea that weddings themselves have become more personalized than ever. With people breaking away from tradition, it’s no surprise that the family dog is finding his way into the ceremony.
Plus there is the added bonus of getting to dress the dog up for the big day. The family dog decked out in a doggie tuxedo or matching bride’s maid dress is so cute and so arresting at the moment, it becomes almost unforgettable. Not to mention how cute the wedding photos come out.
Now before you go and plan to include your dog in the wedding there are some things to consider first. Like how well behaved is your dog and does it answer to basic commands like sit, stay and come? If your dog can’t respond to commands it might be a better idea to reconsider the idea. Also, you really need to check with the venues you have rented to make sure they allow a dog on the premises.
