Maryland Zoo to host Volunteer Open House

If you think our animals are wild, come meet our Volunteers! The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore will be hosting an Open House for prospective volunteers on Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, at the Zoo’s Mansion House.

Every year, hundreds of Volunteers donate over 30,000 hours to further The Zoo’s mission of education, conservation, recreation, and research. Volunteers help with everything "Zoo," from education and special events to horticulture and visitor services. The Zoo offers volunteer positions for people with all types of schedules and interests.

During the Open House, guests will learn about the essential role Volunteers play in conservation education, grounds keeping, and visitor support. Current Volunteers and staff will be on hand to discuss spring openings, including training, scheduling, and the rewards of volunteering. Special “Info Sessions” will be held at 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 1:30 pm.

More information and an online application can be found at www.marylandzoo.org under the “Get Involved” tab at the top of the home page.
