Bigger and Better than Ever: iPhone 3G

Bigger and Better than Ever: iPhone 3GI’m sure you’ve heard the news that Apple has introduced the new iPhone 3G, and if you have been thinking about upgrading from your current phone, the 3G may be just what you have been waiting for.

The 3G is similar to the original iPhone in that it has all the same features that consumers love about the original but speed is the name of the game now and the 3G boast networking speed that is twice as fast as the original. In addition the 3G also comes with built-in GPS and iPhone 2.0 software that includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, as well as running hundreds of third party applications.

And the best part is, the new iPhone 3G retails for $199.00 for the 8GB model and $299.00 for the 16GB model.

“Just one year after launching the iPhone, we’re launching the new iPhone 3G that is twice as fast at half the price,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO in a recent company press release. “ iPhone 3G supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync right out of the box, runs the incredible third party apps created with the iPhone SDK, and will be available in more than 70 countries around the world this year.”

Apple took some heat after introducing the original iPhone because of the lack of versatility when it came to third party software and the exclusive ATT deal. But as could have been predicted, they responded answering the critics and creating a product that is very hard to find fault with.

The new iPhone 3G will be available for sale in the US on July 11, 2008, and like when the original IPhone became available, it’s a good bet that there will be an initial rush on the product. Unlike the original iPhone, we’re not likely to see a price drop after the introduction. Starting at $199.00 the new 3G is priced to compete with phones far less sophisticated and with far less features which is sure to make the iPhone 3G a winner as soon as it hits the shelf.
