We love the 2nd Amendment, the 4th not so much! By: Jimmy James |

Defenders of the 2nd Amendment are still aglow celebrating the decision of the Supreme Court who ruled that individuals do have a right to own guns separate from the concept of maintaining a well armed militia.
So was it a victory for gun advocates? Not really and here’s why. The court did rule that the Washington DC handgun law was unconstitutional, unfortunately, they continued stating that individual states did have the right to regulate gun ownership. So now, instead of one battle to fight, gun advocates now have 50 battles to fight, and each as individualized as the States themselves.
But that’s not my beef this week. Here’s what I’m wondering. Why don’t the people who care so dearly about the 2nd Amendment not care a lick about the 4th Amendment, which has been suspended for almost a year now.
You didn’t know our Government had suspended the 4th Amendment? I’m not surprised, because it happened in mid summer 2007 in the dead of night, right before the Senate was to go on vacation.
But even before the official actions of the Senate there was the now famous John Yoo memo that stated the 4th Amendment didn’t apply to Domestic Military Operations.
But back to the actions of the Senate, yes they voted, in effect to suspend the 4th Amendment.
So why aren’t people outraged? particularly those who so ardently fight to defend 2nd Amendment rights?
Here’s a little something to chew on; your 2nd Amendment rights aren’t worth spit without the protections of the 4th Amendment. Why? Because if the crap hits the fan, and the citizenry are actually called upon to defend the nation against the Government, you won’t get a chance to use your guns. The Government will have long since identified you as a potential trouble maker and you will be one of the first to be targeted.
Think I’m wrong? Fortunately we already have an example from history to look at. When the Nazi’s rounded up the Jews in Germany, did you ever wonder how the Nazi’s knew who were Jews and how they knew where they were living and who they could expect resistance from? They knew because the Nazi had been spying on the citizens of Germany for years. So when the order to round them up was given, the authorities knew who they were looking for, where they were and who they could expect trouble from.
