It is not necessary to have games planned for your shower, but depending on the relative familiarity of your guests with each other it may be a good idea. If your guests are all old friend who have known each other for years, games may not serve the same purpose as when the shower guests don’t really know each other at all. In these situations games can serve a crucial function breaking the ice and getting your guests to relax and to interact with each other.

Cotton Ball Game: Blindfold a guest, with a spoon; have them transfer cotton balls from one bowl to another. The point is to use a very heavy spoon so that it is impossible to tell if you have actually picked up any cotton balls. The one who transfers the most cotton balls wins. This game is a very funny game to watch because it consists mostly of watching your guests transfer empty spoonfuls.

The Clothes Pin Game: There are a lot of variation of this game but the main thrust of the game is to hand out clothes pins to your guests informing them of words that can’t say like, wedding, bride, rings, etc… or actions they can’t make like, crossing their legs or brushing their hair. If they are spotted or heard by another guest breaking one of the rules they give up a clothes pin to that guest. The one with the most clothes pins at the end of the day wins the game.

The Purse Game: The way this game is played is the bride to be makes a list of all the items that are normally found in a woman’s purse and she assigns points to each item, a brush may be worth a point, a safety pin may be worth two points, etc.... At one point all the guests are asked to empty their purses to tally how many points each guest gets. The one with the most points wins the games.
