Make Your Great Dog a Super Dog |
| |
You may be your dog's hero, but now you can return the favor. Now, you can turn your dog into a Super Dog and share him with the world. Using the new Super Dog tool from Canine Companions for Independence, you can turn your mild-mannered dog into a Super Dog, complete with a superhero cape, ready to leap tall buildings (or, at least, a really tall potted plant) in a single bound!
Simply visit superdog.cci.org, upload your dog's photo and follow a few simple steps to make your dog a Super Dog.
Canine Companions trains assistance dogs for kids and adults with disabilities. They created this tool, with the generous help of The McGraw-Hill Companies, to help spread the word on their need for more volunteers to raise puppies to be assistance dogs. Currently, there are over 1400 Canine Companions assistance dog teams nationwide, helping people with disabilities live more independently by picking up items they can't reach, opening doors, turning on the lights or alerting them to a smoke alarm. All CCI assistance dogs are provided free of charge.
Volunteer puppy raisers raise eight-week old puppies for Canine Companions by providing a safe home, taking them to obedience classes, serving up a healthy diet, providing socialization opportunities and giving lots of love. The puppy is returned to Canine Companions between the ages of thirteen and eighteen months for professional training and learns over 40 specialized commands to help a person with a disability.
