Make an Exercise Plan and Reach Your Goal!

We all know we need to exercise to stay healthy and to look great, but for many of us the difference between success and failure can be the decision to implement an exercise plan.
Take for example a person who decides to join a gym. There is a big difference between someone who decides to join a gym and to go whenever they are able and someone who joins a gym with the commitment to go at least three days a week. It doesn’t take very much thought to figure out which one of the gym goers is going to find more success from their exercise commitment.
So how do you make an exercise plan?
The first thing you need to do is determine what level of fitness you are at. Have you exercised before or is this the first time you’ll be exercising regularly? Next you need to determine what your exercise goals are. Do you need to lose 20 pounds, or are you just looking to tone up?
Once you determine what level you are at and what you’re looking to achieve now you can determine how you are going to get there. Perhaps you haven’t worked out in a long time and you’re looking to lose some extra weight you have recently put on. Such a situation would require an exercise plan that targets the areas where you are carrying the weight and a progressive exercise schedule that gets harder as you begin getting stronger and more able to handle harder and harder workout routines.
Then comes the reevaluation. Have you been keeping to your schedule and have you been seeing the results that you were looking for? If not, you need to determine where your exercise plan is failing. If it’s a matter of not putting in enough time, that’s easy enough to correct, but if it’s a matter of not getting the results you hoped, it may be time to take the next big step of consulting with a personal trainer.
Working with a personal trainer is probably the best way to make sure you’re doing the right exercises to work the correct areas. You don’t need to work with a trainer forever, but rather just long enough to learn what you need to know to reach your goals.
Perhaps the most important part about making a exercise plan is the commitment you’ll be making to yourself. Deciding to follow through on an exercise plan is almost as difficult as doing the exercises themselves. Once you have your plan, you’re half way to reaching your exercise goals.
