Kenny Chesney Signs New Concert Promotion Deal
Kenny Chesney has a new concert promoter. While in the midst of a very successful "Poets & Pirates 2008" tour, the singer has signed a multi-year deal with TMG/AEG Live to handle future shows. According to "Billboard," the agreement will begin next year, and is set up so that Chesney will be paid a guaranteed amount based on the number of tickets available for sale. The agreement reportedly doesn't include any recording or merchandising rights, although the company will work to get corporate sponsorships for tours. According to "Billboard" Boxscore, since 2002 Chesney's road trips have grossed more than 300-million-dollars with nearly seven-million tickets sold. On his last five tours Chesney has performed to more than one-million people on each trek, which "Billboard" says is a first in country music and "extremely rare" for any genre.
