In 1960 The Everly Brothers' "So Sad (To Watch Good Love Go Bad)" peaked at number seven on the pop singles chart. Ray Charles' "Georgia On My Mind," Maurice Williams' and the Zodiacs' "Stay," and Joe Jones' "You Talk Too Much" broke into the Top 40. In 1963 Brian Poole and the Tremeloes' "Do You Love Me" hit number one on the UK pop singles chart. In 1964 The Beatles kicked off a UK tour with Mary Wells with a show in Bradford. The Supremes' "Baby Love" broke into the Top 40. The Shangri-Las released the single "Leader of the Pack." In 1965 The Supremes made their first appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show." In 1970 To promote the release of Pink Floyd's album "Atom Heart Mother," the band's record label put up 30-foot-high billboards of the album's cover. Neil Diamond's "Cracklin' Rosie" hit number one on the pop singles chart. Smokey Robinson & the Miracles released the single "Tears of a Clown." In 1973 Three Dog Night released the album "Cyan." In 1977 The Rolling Stones began working on the album "Some Girls" in Paris. In 1978 Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry were injured when a fan threw a cherry bomb on stage during a concert in Philadelphia. In 1979 Fleetwood Mac received a star on Hollywood Boulevard, and it was declared Fleetwood Mac Day in Los Angeles. In 1980 Friends and family gathered to pay their final respects at the funeral for Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. Bruce Springsteen released his breakthrough album "The River." In 1986 Freddie and the Dreamers, Chad and Jeremy, the Mindbenders, and Gerry and the Pacemakers kicked off a "British Invasion Returns" tour with a show in Los Angeles. In 2001 Styx's Dennis DeYoung sued the band for going on tour without him and for what he considered to be the misuse of the group's logo. In 2005 Former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, the Bee Gees, the Kinks, and the late John Lennon earned honorary awards at the British "Q" Awards in London. In accepting the former Beatle's trophy, Lennon's widow Yoko Ono took a jab at Paul McCartney. In 2006 John Lennon's killer, Mark David Chapman, was denied parole in his fourth attempt to regain his freedom. He's serving a 20-years-to-life sentence for the December 1980 shooting. New album releases included Rod Stewart's "Still the Same...Great Rock Classics of Our Time" and Jimmy Buffett's "Take the Weather With You." In 2007 Former Byrds frontman Roger McGuinn and Phoebe Snow were among the performers at an all-star charity salute at New York's Carnegie Hall honoring Elton John. Grand Funk Railroad's Mark Farner, The Rascals' Felix Cavaliere, Kim Carnes, Sam Sham and the Pharoes' Sam "The Sham," Eddie Floyd, and William Bell were among the performers at Steve Cropper's annual fundraiser for the T.J. Martell Foundation. Ashford and Simpson were among the performers at the "All for the Hall" benefit for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in New York City. The Bellamy Brothers launched their affiliation with Food For The Hungry with a concert in Waco, Texas. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's "Magic" debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album also entered charts in the top spot in Canada, the UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Austria.<
