New DNA Analysis Sparks New Rumors That Elvis Is Alive
One woman's claims that she's the half-sister of rock 'n roll icon Elvis Presley is leading to a new round of rumors about Presley's mortality. According to the "Memphis Commercial Appeal," a Memphis judge reopened the estate of Presley's father last week, after Alice Elizabeth Tiffin said she had DNA evidence proving she's Vernon Presley's daughter. The 46-year-old woman, who recently changed her name to Eliza Presley, explained that she received Elvis' DNA from a man identified as Jessie Presley, and it was compared to her own DNA and a sample from a Presley cousin. She notes that while she thought it would show she was Elvis' daughter, the comparison suggests instead that she and Elvis have the same father.
But now a man from the Scottsdale, Arizona facility that compared the samples says the Elvis DNA and that of Jessie Presley -- whose DNA was on the envelope -- are a match, suggesting that Elvis and Jessie could possibly be one in the same. Donald Yates of DNA Consultants notes, quote, "There are a lot of Elvis impersonators, but I don't think you can imitate DNA." The paper notes that while Yates has a doctorate in history, he is not a scientist.
Elvis Presley Enterprises attorney William Bradley Jr. remains skeptical. He says he's "not at all surprised" by Tiffin's allegations, and adds, quote, "Many individuals who claim to be related to Elvis Presley have vivid imaginations." Tiffin's mother is also denying the claims. She admits that in the early 1960s she traveled in the same social circle as the rock icon, but insists that neither Elvis nor Vernon fathered her child. |
