Alan Jackson Takes Top Prize At ASCAP Country Awards
Alan Jackson is this year's ASCAP Songwriter/Artist of the Year. The performer got the nod at the 46th annual ASCAP Country Music Awards, which pays tribute to the top country songs, writers, and publishers from the past year. Jackson was recognized for his hits "A Woman's Love," from his 2006 CD "Like Red on a Rose," and "Small Town Southern Man," the first single from his latest release, "Good Time." Jackson's win ends the run of Big & Rich's John Rich, who had been named the ASCAP Songwriter/Artist of the Year for the last three years. Reba McEntire was also honored at the event, receiving the Golden Note Award for her outstanding career achievements. According to MusicCityTV.com, Brooks & Dunn and Kelly Clarkson were among those on hand for the salute to Reba. The 46th Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards were presented in a ceremony at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville Monday night.
