Elvis' Christmas Songs Get A Collaborative Makeover
New versions of Elvis Presley's holiday classics are headed to stores. "Elvis Presley Christmas Duets" features such songs as "Here Comes Santa Claus," "Silent Night," "Merry Christmas Baby," and "Silver Bells" remade as duets with a variety of country stars. Presley's singing partners include Anne Murray, who chimes in on "Blue Christmas;" Carrie Underwood, who adds to "I'll Be Home For Christmas;" and Amy Grant, who contributes to "White Christmas." Others lending their talent to the unique holiday project include Martina McBride, Sara Evans, and LeAnn Rimes, as well as Wynonna Judd, Gretchen Wilson, and members of Little Big Town. The women recorded their parts at the famed RCA Studio B in Nashville, the same place Presley's original recordings were done, to help match their voices with his. Elvis' ex, Priscilla Presley, has said she's pleased with the performers on the album, which is the first-ever Elvis duets disc, and adds her belief that, quote, "Elvis would be proud to have worked with them." "Elvis Presley Christmas Duets" will be in stores Tuesday. |
