Tim McGraw Apologizes For Latest "Hits" Collection
Tim McGraw is apologizing for his recently released "Greatest Hits 3." The singer says in a statement that he, quote, "had no involvement in the creation or presentation of this record." He admits that since he's only released one album since his last best-of collection, quote, "it has to be just as confusing to the fans as it is to me." McGraw explains that he loves the songs in the set and doesn't want to "take anything away" from those whose creativity went into developing the package. However, he calls the project "an embarrassment to me as an artist," and says it wasn't his idea or desire to issue it. McGraw notes that he's been working on new material, which he hoped would hit stores this fall, and adds that he's "saddened and disappointed" that his label chose instead to put out another hits compilation in an effort to extend his recording contract term. No new songs are on "Greatest Hits 3." But the collection boasts two tracks that hadn't previously appeared on any McGraw album -- "Find Out Who Your Friends Are," the Tracy Lawrence chart-topper that features McGraw and Kenny Chesney; and "Nine Lives," McGraw's collaboration with Def Leppard -- and a live rendition of the 2003 hit "Real Good Man."
