Britney Spears To Head To Trial For Misdemeanor Driving Charges
Britney Spears heads to trial today in the case of her misdemeanor driving charge. The 26-year-old pop princess is scheduled to stand trial after rejecting a plea offer of a year's probation and a 150 dollar fine at a court hearing in Los Angeles last week. Her attorney Michael Flanagan has long maintained that Spears has been targeted purely because of her celebrity status. Flanagan says the charge should have been fixed with a ten-dollar fine. The trial stems from a 2007 fender-bender in Los Angeles where Spears hit a parked car and drove away. The hit-and-run charges were dropped, but she still faces charges for driving with a Louisiana license instead of a California license. The trial will take place in Van Nuys, California.
