"Soul Train" Creator Due In Court
"Soul Train" creator Don Cornelius is scheduled to be in court Friday in conjunction with his arrest last month. The "Los Angeles Times" says the 72-year-old Cornelius was taken into custody on October 17th, after police were called to his Los Angeles-area home to respond to a "domestic dispute." He was released the next morning after posting 50-thousand-dollars bail. Details on the incident weren't revealed. Cornelius, who's best known as the creator and longtime host of the syndicated dance/music program "Soul Train," is facing felony domestic violence charges. Cornelius launched "Soul Train" in 1971, and served as the show's host and executive producer for more than 20 years. "Soul Train" remained in production after he stepped down, featuring various guest hosts.
