Prince and the Revolution's "Purple Rain" peaked at number two on the pop singles chart. 1986 - Human League's "Human" hit number one on the pop singles chart. Club Nouveau released the album "Life, Love, & Pain." 1987 - Madonna released the album "You Can Dance." 1989 - Paula Abdul released the single "Opposites Attract." New Kids On The Block's album "Merry Merry Christmas" was certified Gold and Platinum. 1990 - Deee-Lite's "Groove is in the Heart" peaked at number four on the pop singles chart. 1992 - The soundtrack to the movie "The Bodyguard," featuring a number of songs from Whitney Houston including "I Will Always Love You," was released. 1993 - Janet Jackson's album "Janet" was certified multi-Platinum. Barbara Streisand donated her 24-acre, 15-million dollar estate in Malibu, California, to the state environmental agency. 1994 - Vanessa Williams' album "The Comfort Zone" was certified multi-Platinum. 1997 - Janet Jackson won a restraining order in a Los Angeles court against a man who she said was making threats against her and her people. 1998 - The Backstreet Boys released the video "A Night Out with the Backstreet Boys." Seal released the album "Human Being." 1998 - Mariah Carey released the album "Ones." 1999 - Billy Joel's albums "Piano Man" and "Songs in the Attic" were certified multi-Platinum. Marc Anthony's self-titled album was certified Platinum. 2003 - Britney Spears was the subject of an hour-long ABC special. Hilary Duff kicked off a seven-city headlining tour in Phoenix, Arizona. 2007 - Stevie Wonder was joined by Tony Bennett and Prince during a New York performance. Bennett and Wonder performed "For Once in My Life" together while Prince joined in with Stevie to sing "Superstition."<
