Martina McBride Makes A Video With Elvis
Martina McBride is going back in time. With a little help from technology, the country singer makes a special appearance during Elvis Presley's famed '68 comeback special to perform the holiday classic "Blue Christmas" as a duet. Producer George Flanigen notes the video magic that's yielding a new video to the song is similar to how Presley "appeared" on "American Idol" last year. But for this clip, McBride was filmed in front of a green screen and added to the existing Elvis footage -- which is the only known video of Presley singing a Christmas song. Flanigen explains that there was a space between Elvis and guitarist Scotty Moore, and it looks very natural to have McBride sitting there. He says it looks pretty natural, adding, quote, "There are shots where he and Martina share the frame, where he looks over at her, where she looks back at him and sings and smiles."
The Presley-McBride remake of "Blue Christmas" is from the recently released CD "Elvis Presley Christmas Duets." The video made its broadcast debut Monday on the syndicated "Entertainment Tonight," and was posted online at USAToday.com. It will begin airing on CMT on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the video will be available for download from Elvis.com and digital music and video providers. |
